The mentioned Percy Edward Wood is their brother-in-law as he married their sister Grace Ellen (younger than Percy but older than Cecil. Percy Wood’s Service Number was 13991 and also resided at Brook Gate, New Hythe. His rank was Chief Butcher, not butcher as on records of death. I’ve been unable to find P Wood’s parentage. Birth registered in quarter 2 1886 in Gravesend and married Grace in Q1 1916

Percy Edward Roots was in the Army Service Corps as you state but he Was also in the Suffolk regiment, Regiment number 26055 and was in the Kent Cyclist Regiment (Kent Cyclist Battalion) and attached to the Huntingdonshire Cyclist Regiment Number TF/265769; The service number you have was that when he transferred to Army service Corps Remounts at the end of his career.
